production: Founded in 1807 in a small village, Ludes on the Mountain of
Reims

Canard-Duchêne was founded in 1868 in Ludes, a small village in the
Montagne de Reims. By 1890 Canard-Duchêne had penetrated the closed
circle of the suppliers to the Court of Tsar Nicholas II, hence the two-headed
eagle, emblem of the Russian Imperial family. Canard-Duchêne is now owned
and run by Alain Thienot whose drive for excellence has given this
long-established Champagne house a new impetus.
Tasting notes: The Grande Cuvée Le
Victorieux Charles VII is characterised by its stunning yellow appearance and
magnificent mousse teaming with thousands of delicate bubbles. Chardonnay
dominates on the nose with its fruity, mineral character, while on the palate,
the Pinot Noir imparts structure and maturity. Charles VII Le Victorieux is
best enjoyed as an aperitif or as a delicious start to a
meal..
Varietals: With grapes sourced from some of the most
prestigious cru vineyards, including Avize, Avenay, Ludes and Trépail,
the Grande Cuvée Le Victorieux is the subtle and contrasting blend of
Pinot Noir (55%) and Chardonnay (45%). Reserve wines make up at least 20% of
the blend. Dosage: around 11g/litre.
