production: Founded in 1807 in a small village, Ludes on the Mountain of

Canard-Duchêne was founded in 1868 in Ludes, a small village in the
Montagne de Reims. By 1890 Canard-Duchêne had penetrated the closed
circle of the suppliers to the Court of Tsar Nicholas II, hence the two-headed
eagle, emblem of the Russian Imperial family. Canard-Duchêne is now owned
and run by Alain Thienot whose drive for excellence has given this
long-established Champagne house a new impetus.
Tasting notes: Grande Cuvée de la Rose
Charles VII with its pink, subtle coppered hue and delicate, abundant mousse,
marries its distinctive wine style with finesse, through its subtle, delicate
red fruit notes and cherry aromas. This is a seductive Champagne, ideal for a
truly memorable aperitif or to accompany refined, rich and flavoursome
dishes.
Varietals: Grande Cuvée de la Rose is an original
blend of Pinot Noir and Chardonnay, in equal parts. Reserve wines, particularly
red wines crafted from Pinot Noir from Montagne de Reims, make up at least 20%
of the blend. Dosage: around 11g/ litre.
